The Louis Vuitton Express Bag carries a lot of stuff

Louis Vuitton – the man, way back when in 1854 – kick-started his career and founded probably the largest luxury brand in the world via his propensity for packing bags. Back then, that was a highly skilled task, one best left to professionals in a century when women’s clothes were cantilevered on crinoline skirts of whalebone and watch-spring to gargantuan proportions. Vuitton packed trunks for the highest level of society – the Empress Eugenie of France was his star client, and he began to make the bags for her too. Vuitton have continued doing so ever since. Which is to say that the base of Vuitton is bags that carry a lot of stuff, and that travel well – this is the idea behind the new Express by the modern-day Monsieur Vuitton, women’s artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière. The bag itself is a roam through Vuitton history – the name was originally afforded to the Speedy in 1930, while the shape echoes both that style and the Keepall – incidentally, designed that same year. The sign outside Monsieur Vuitton’s first establishment read: Securely packs the most fragile objects. Specialising in packing fashions. And there’s plenty of fashion packed into this bag, for sure.

The Louis Vuitton Express bag is available in PM, MM and GM
