Offering an insight into the making of her Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, Talia Byre’s new zine is a textural memento of the designer’s process

Talia Byre has a flair for making things personal. Her shows favour the offbeat and intimate over the bright lights of a runway – think nostalgic, salon-style displays at London haunts like Lant Street Wines, Sweetings, and Tenderbooks – and the wardrobe she’s built since launching her brand in 2020 is no different. Her clothes are inspired by the women she grew up around (her grandma and eccentric circle of friends) and made for the women in her life now: her studio team, her sister, and herself. The designer’s latest project feels like a natural addition to this world – the first in a zine series documenting the making of each collection.

This publication centres on Autumn/Winter 2025 – a lilac and yellow-shaded love letter to distant relative Lily Byre and the designer’s school days. Shown at Incubator Gallery on Chiltern Street during London Fashion Week in February, it was presented in the brand’s typically intimate style, taking the format of two seatings for a handful of editors and friends. The accompanying zine offers a textural memento of the collection: moodboard clippings, striking shots of lookbook model Lili Sumner, gestural in-between moments from show day, and otherworldly paintings by Mongolian artist Yuma Radne, whose work filled the gallery space back in February.

“I hope people can see all the fun and hard work [that goes into a collection],” says Talia Lipkin-Connor. “Every day is crazy in the best way and we wanted to make an archive, even just for us, to look back on as the brand progresses. It’s just a really nice document. There’s only going to be a hundred copies of the issue, so we’re hoping that they’ll become a bit of a collector’s edition.”

The imagery is paired with a conversation between Radne, Byre and Incubator founder Angelica Jopling – led by AnOther’s deputy editor Violet Conroy – in which the three women discuss their daily uniforms and the dissolving boundaries between art and fashion. “It’s so nice to read it in print,” says Byre. “We really wanted it to be a true documentation of the collection and all the efforts of everyone involved. That needed to feel really layered and textural, from elements of Yuma’s paintings to pictures from the factory in Italy.”

Launching this evening at Incubator, the designer hopes the zine series will add a tactile dimension to each of her future collections – and another reason to bring the loyal community she has grown around her brand together. “All the girls in the team are always collecting zines and bringing them into the studio,” says Byre. “We just felt it was an extension of the world of Talia Byre. We have customers who buy something each season. It’s nice to think that, as you might collect a garment each season, you might also collect a zine.”

Talia Byre’s Autumn/Winter 2025 zine launches on June 23 at Incubator Gallery in London from 6-8pm.
